Pastor held over fraud

Kabarole- Kasese
A pastor based in Kasese District has been arrested in Fort Portal for allegedly defrauding orphans.
The suspect, who was reportedly attached to Nyakaseke Pentecostal Church, was arrested on Tuesday from Butebe Trading Centre by his fellow pastors led by Pastor Ibrahimu Musinguzi of United Pentecostal Churches International Uganda (UPCIU).
The men of God, who filed a complaint at police, alleged that the pastor used the name of Nyakaseke Church and claimed to have found sponsors for the needy children but conned their parents of money with promises of scholarships.
Bishop Jimmy Katuramu of UPCIU said the suspect has never been a pastor in Nyakaseke Church and that the Church did not approve of his activities.
However, the suspect denied the allegations and insisted that whatever he collected from parents was his transport facilitation.
Rwenzori Region police spokesperson Bakari Muga Bashir confirmed the arrest. “He will be charged accordingly after investigations are concluded” he said.
